This means players will need to choose which element is the most effective against certain enemies. Three champions will be chosen to fight for each mission, and each element becomes more powerful when used against the opposing power. Each character makes use of a chosen element: fire, lightning, metal, nature or water. The champions in the game will battle warring factions, monsters and bosses through unpredictable environments.
In Champions of Anteria, players will be "strategically wielding the powers of five champions" in order to defeat enemies and reclaim the kingdom. "For those who are wondering about the classic The Settlers series, rest assured that The Settlers is alive and kicking." It features a completely new narrative and adventure for players to enjoy. "To be clear, the game isn’t part of The Settlers series, but a new adventure that will further explore the lands of Anteria. "After much discussion, we made the decision to steer this project in a new direction," reads a statement from the team. The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria went into closed beta in the fall of 2014, and according to development studio Blue Byte, when testing closed in January 2015, it took all of the feedback received and decided to rework the title. The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria is now a strategy title called Champions of Anteria Not only has the name been changed, but the original game has been scrapped and rebooted as a single-player, tactical strategy game. The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria shall now be known as Champions of Anteria.
